2008年4月17日上午，奥运倒计时100天主题歌《北京欢迎你》发布仪式在北京首都博物馆举行。北京奥组委在北京奥运会倒计时100天之际，推出一首由100名歌星演唱的倒计时100天的主题歌《北京欢迎你》。
这是北京2008年奥运会征集评选活动组委会、中国移动通信有限公司、北京市文物局继成功推出北京2008年奥运会倒计时一周年主题歌《We Are Ready》后再度携手合作，力邀海内外百名歌星激情演绎，几乎云集了华语流行乐坛所有的当红和实力唱将。他们用这种特殊的方式向全世界发出邀请，用音乐热情拥抱北京奥运客人，用音乐为奥运加油。
作为北京奥运会倒计时100天的声音符号，《北京欢迎你》是以“同一个世界，同一个梦想”为主题，以北京普通人家的视角，采用民谣形式，用热情的音符表达北京奥运即将到来时，人们喜悦的心情和对北京奥运客人的欢迎之意。这首歌是由北京奥组委文化活动部和中国移动共同策划，著名香港音乐人林夕作词，中国内地音乐人小柯作曲，小柯、陈少琪、余秉翰担任制作人。
